Dr. Rian A. Cho is a highly skilled and experienced board-certified oral surgeon. He was born in South Korea and moved to Michigan when he was 15 years old and attended Berrien Springs High School, where he graduated a year and a half ahead of schedule. Dr. Cho is an alumnus of Andrews University, Michigan. He played in the Symphony Orchestra, discovered evidence of an unexplored star for a graduation thesis on molecular astrophysics and graduated with dual degrees in just three years.

Upon graduation from college, he served as a missionary until 2007, when he earned his commission in the U.S. Air Force. He has served at various locations worldwide, overseeing over 150 multinational military and civilian employees.

Although Dr. Cho enjoyed his career in the military, he realized that he would be happier serving the community as a healthcare provider while participating in a humanitarian operation after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. In 2013, Dr. Cho was honorably discharged from the military as a Captain with numerous decorations to start his new career in healthcare.

Dr. Cho obtained his dental degree at Meharry Medical College in 2017 with an award from the White House and several awards, including Implantology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Prosthodontics.  Dr. Cho furthered his surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville with an emphasis on Advanced Implantology, Anesthesia, Orthognathic Surgery, Facial Trauma, TMJ Disorders, and Surgical Oncology.  Dr. Cho presented a number of his research findings focusing on intimate partner violence, facial trauma and post-operative pain management throughout the U.S. and internationally.  Dr. Cho continues his passion for education through teaching and mentoring dental students and surgical residents.

Dr. Cho met his wife, Casey, in dental school and has two children, Phillip and Erin.  Besides his passion for healthcare and education, Dr. Cho enjoys playing cello and flying as a private pilot.
