Tooth loss is exceedingly common and can happen due to untreated periodontal disease, facial trauma, or dental neglect. You may be a good candidate for full arch restoration if your mouth has multiple missing teeth. Using just a few strategically placed implants, we can restore your smile to its full form and function. At Southern Dental Implants & Oral Surgery, we are pleased to offer full arch treatments, always putting your safety and comfort first.

The Benefits

Full arch restoration offers several unique benefits:

  • You can regain a natural-looking smile, replacing entire rows of teeth if needed.
  • Full arch restoration will ultimately enable you to bite and chew as normal.
  • We can abbreviate your surgical time by using as little as 4 implants.

Ideal Candidates

To find out whether you qualify for a safe and successful full arch treatment, schedule a consultation with Southern Dental Implants & Oral Surgery. Generally, you are a good candidate if you:

  • You are missing several teeth, or even an entire row of teeth.
  • Have sufficient jawbone or are willing to have a bone graft.
  • Do not have untreated periodontal disease.
  • Are in good health overall.

What is Involved in the Process?

For full arch restoration, we take a collaborative approach. We will get everyone in the room, including your restorative dentist, for the initial appointment, during which we will carefully develop a personalized surgical plan.

You will be placed under complete anesthesia for the surgery, ensuring you are comfortable. The dental implants will be carefully placed, then left to heal for several weeks before your final prosthetic teeth are placed. Temporary replacement teeth are provided in the meantime.

Types of Replacement Options

Upper and Lower Teeth

For replacing the lower teeth, there are a few options to consider:

  • Ball attachment, in this option, we place two implants in the upper or lower jaw, then snap a denture onto them.
  • Bar attachment. This method includes four to six implants, depending on your jaw size, with an overdenture on top.
  • Screw retained, a handful of implants are positioned for screw-retained restoration, and a permanent denture is screwed into place.
  • Individual implants, this option helps maintain the appearance of naturally growing teeth and healthy gums.

Our surgeons are capable of placing advanced implants such as zygomatic and pterygoid adding more options and increasing long-term success and durability of implant-based restorations.

Recovery Phase

Following your procedure, you will be sent home with full aftercare instructions. You can anticipate a few days of tenderness and swelling, but we will make multimodal pain management available to help you minimize discomfort. Expect a temporary phase of soft foods and liquids before you gradually transition back to a normal diet.
